YouthEcoResiliencE
The Project
YouthEcoResilience (Y.E.R.) is an international project funded by Erasmus+ VIRT-EXCH, involving youth organizations from Europe and Africa to strengthen young people’s role in building resilient communities facing climate change and migration challenges.
It provides training and communication tools for youth, youth workers, and stakeholders on environmental justice, security, inclusion, and human rights.
Why Y.E.R. Was Created
The Context
The global climate crisis is causing increasingly visible impacts, not only on the environment but also on societies. One of the most critical phenomena is climate migration, which forces millions of people to move from territories made uninhabitable by extreme events, desertification, rising sea levels, or resource scarcity. In this context, the YouthEcoResilience (Y.E.R.) project aims to strengthen community resilience and the active role of young people in understanding and addressing the links between the climate crisis, forced migrations, and social integration.
The Objectives
- Understand the link between climate change, insecurity, and youth migration.
- Enhance environmental education and active citizenship.
- Promote social and cultural integration of climate refugees, especially young people from Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Support organizations’ project and communication capacity with sustainable and digital approaches.
The Youth Eco-Resilience training is online: twenty videos freely available on the project's YouTube channel
The training course of the Youth Eco-Resilience (YER) project is now available on YouTube. Twenty videos, organised into four thematic modules, make up a course that addresses climate resilience, human mobility and community security through the direct voices of organisations working on these issues in very different geographical and social contexts.
Voices for Resilience: Youth Eco-Resilience project partners build the online training course together
Delivering an online training course spread across organisations in different countries is not just a technical matter. It means reconciling languages, narrative styles, schedules and quality standards, without flattening the very differences that make an international consortium interesting.
Youth Eco-Resilience: the Erasmus+ project connecting eight countries on climate adaptation
The international launch meeting of Youth Eco-Resilience (Y.E.R.), a project led by our association, took place in Nairobi in July 2025. Over seven days of work, the Kenyan capital brought together delegations from the eight partner countries: Italy, Greece, Germany, Sweden, Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana and Malawi.
