YouthEcoResiliencE
The Project
YouthEcoResilience (Y.E.R.) is an international project funded by Erasmus+ VIRT-EXCH, involving youth organizations from Europe and Africa to strengthen young people’s role in building resilient communities facing climate change and migration challenges.
It provides training and communication tools for youth, youth workers, and stakeholders on environmental justice, security, inclusion, and human rights.
Why Y.E.R. Was Created
The Context
The global climate crisis is causing increasingly visible impacts, not only on the environment but also on societies. One of the most critical phenomena is climate migration, which forces millions of people to move from territories made uninhabitable by extreme events, desertification, rising sea levels, or resource scarcity. In this context, the YouthEcoResilience (Y.E.R.) project aims to strengthen community resilience and the active role of young people in understanding and addressing the links between the climate crisis, forced migrations, and social integration.
The Objectives
- Understand the link between climate change, insecurity, and youth migration.
- Enhance environmental education and active citizenship.
- Promote social and cultural integration of climate refugees, especially young people from Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Support organizations’ project and communication capacity with sustainable and digital approaches.
